“I’ve gone through a tough preparation process, so I will be 100% ready and will do my best not to disappoint the Lithuanian fans,” says Sergej Grecicho confidently. The Lithuanian MMA legend will step into the cage this Saturday, September 21, at the KOK/MMA Bushido tournament in Vilnius’ ‘TwinsBet’ arena.
Initially, S. Grecicho was set to fight an Italian-origin fighter. However, a few weeks before the match, Leoni’s family experienced a tragedy—his mother was hospitalized, forcing him to withdraw from the fight. He was replaced by Georgian fighter Adem Vashakmadze.
Adem Vashakmadze is widely known for his fighting spirit and determination, and he gladly accepted the challenge to face Sergej. The Georgian fighter boasts notable victories in the world of martial arts, having become the Georgian champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and the Georgian MMA vice-champion. It is clear that Vashakmadze, with his experience and technique, will confidently strive for victory against the legendary Lithuanian MMA fighter.
“The new opponent doesn’t change my preparation. I am 100% ready, and my goal is victory,” says Grecicho with his usual determination. And these are not just empty words—Sergej’s long career proves it. From his first fight at Japan’s ZST tournament in 2005 to this day, Grecicho has repeatedly demonstrated his strength, both on the international MMA stage and representing Lithuania at World and European Combat Sambo, Pankration, and Grappling championships. “Sport has helped me discover my strengths and gain confidence,” says Sergej, who has won gold medals and the WKN MMA world champion belt.
“Now my dream is the MMA Bushido belt,” he reveals, sharing his immediate goals as he aims for yet another major victory in his impressive trophy collection. “KOK/Bushido tournaments have always stood out with their show elements and huge spectator interest. It’s no secret that I’ve always wanted to return and fight at home,” adds the fighter.
Who will triumph in the octagon this Saturday? On September 21, Sergej faces not only a new challenge but also an opportunity to once again etch his name into Lithuanian MMA history. Those unable to attend can watch the event live on the fightplus.eu platform.
