Lithuanian martial arts star Sergej Grecicho, although victorious against his opponent from Georgia in a recent MMA BUSHIDO tournament, sustained a serious injury. The fight was extremely tense. While executing a triangle choke on his opponent, Sergej was lifted and slammed to the ground, resulting in a dislocated collarbone and torn ligaments. Despite the injury, Sergej managed to finish the fight with an armbar, securing victory.
After the tournament, the fighter underwent an urgent surgery, and now faces a long rehabilitation period. Although the injury will prevent Sergej from participating in the “KOK Hero’s” tournament on November 16 at the TwinsBet arena in Vilnius, he has assured his fans that he will return to the ring in March for the next MMA BUSHIDO event.
Sergej shared his thoughts on his injury and the subsequent surgery: “If you knew where you’d fall, you’d lay down a pillow. This saying best describes the situation that occurred during the MMA BUSHIDO fight against the Georgian representative. While I was performing a triangle choke, my opponent lifted and slammed me, resulting in a dislocated collarbone and torn ligaments. However, I managed to continue the fight and finish with an armbar. Right after the match, I consulted the doctors, and it was decided to operate as soon as possible so that I can train without restrictions and properly prepare for future competitions.”
Sergej also reflected on his rehabilitation and personal challenges: “Every injury and surgery strengthens you mentally. There’s a lot of time for reflection—what you did wrong, whether you’re on the right path, and if it’s worth it. That little walk from the ward to the operating room, with a thousand thoughts in your head, pain, rehabilitation—it’s a process I’ve been through many times, so it’s hard to knock me off my game.”
Sergej will attend the November 16 event at TwinsBet arena to support Lithuanian fighters, with a promise that fans will see the best version of himself next year: “You’ll see the best version of Grecicho at the MMA BUSHIDO event in March in Vilnius, where I plan to compete.”
